Hawaiians have some of the most beautiful and rich traditions dating back centuries.
Hawaiians worshipped many deities, including akua, who represented nature, and aumakua, who were ancestral protective gods
Native Hawaiian culture grew from their Polynesian roots, creating a local religion and cultural practices. This new worship centered on the ideas of land (aina) and family (ohana). Land became a sacred part of life and family.
Hawaiian religion is polytheistic, but mostly focuses on the gods Wākea and Papahānaumoku, the mother and father of the Hawaiian islands. Their stillborn child formed the deep roots of Hawaii, and whose second child, Hāloa, is the god from whom all Hawaiians originate.
Hawaiians played a variety of sports, including foot races, darts, arm-wrestling, tug-of-war, spear throwing, wrestling, swimming, surfing, and canoe-racing
Hawaiians memorized long chants, or oli, that often included folklore, legends, and histories
They also told stories, or moʻolelo, through song, chant, and dance
Hula dancing remains an important part of Hawaiian culture today
The Hawaiian Traditions Necklace captures the essence of Hawaiians and their history; charms include a hula dancer, a tiki statue, a tiki hut, a shell, Hawaiian sea fish, and a volcano stone.
Necklace is about 16”, stainless steel. Genuine volcano stone, perfect piece for showing your love of Hawaii, or remembering your trip of a lifetime to the islands!
Handmade in Michigan, but my soul was back in Honolulu 💜
